Family Tour with Panda Volunteer & Robot World

Bet all your family members are fans of giant pandas! Spend the day as a volunteer for a meaningful experience, observing their clumsy yet playful antics up close.

► 07:30-08:30
After the hotel pick-up, you’ll enjoy a private car escort to Wolong Panda Base, home to over 80 giant pandas, which represent approximately 50% of the world’s captive giant panda population.

► 09:00-09:30 
Upon arrival, let’s register and attire in volunteer suits. After a program briefing and safety instructions, hands-on experiences in the enclosures await you, accompanied by your guide and a professional keeper of the base. 

► 09:30-10:00 
Kick off our volunteer activity by helping clean the territories of these plush ‘balls’, including collecting their leftovers and droppings. Next, break bamboo into strips for their breakfast, which can reduce wear on their teeth. After rinsing potentially contaminated surfaces, we’ll assist the keeper in moving the bamboo to the feeding area. ► 10:00-10:30 
Watch the keeper use various commands and food rewards to guide the adorable pandas through a series of health check behaviors, including extending their front paws and opening their mouths for weight and blood pressure measurements.

► 10:30-11:30 
We’ll follow the keeper to explore the panda base further as he shares the names, ages, and unique personalities of each panda you encounter. Learn about their habits, from scent-marking communication to napping routines of 2-4 hours between meals.

► 11:30-13:00 
A simple Chinese lunch, the same as the keepers’, will be provided at the base’s canteen. If you have any special dietary requirements, please prepare your meals ahead of time.

► 13:00-13:30 
In addition to bamboo, these captive giant pandas also enjoy cakes made from a carefully formulated mix of corn, soybeans, and wheat for essential trace elements. Roll up your sleeves and help make this special treat by shaping the dough into perfect cylinders.► 13:30-14:30 
Watch a documentary to gain further insights into the origins, living habits, and breeding of our giant friends.

► 14:30-15:00 
After sharing your volunteering experience with fellow panda lovers, you’ll receive a certificate and souvenir presented by the base.

► 15:00-17:00 
Your volunteer activity will conclude around 15:00. You can choose to continue exploring the enclosures until 17:00 or enjoy a private ride back to your hotel in Chengdu.

 Tips：
1.Please note that the schedule and activities are subject to change based on the base’s arrangements.
2.To reduce the risk of respiratory infections, it’s advisable to wear a mask.
3.Wear comfy shoes instead of high heels, slippers, and Crocs. Also, pandas don’t like heavy perfumes and cosmetics.
4.Live streaming and photography are not permitted in work areas to respect the pandas and their care. Rest assured; the staff will help capture some valuable moments for you.

After breakfast, your guide and the driver will accompany you to Robot World, where cutting-edge technology meets future lifestyle. You’ll have a chance to interact with a smart bionic robot “Little Seven”. Chat with it in English and observe how it precisely mimic over 50 micro-expressions. Children will delight in watching robots perform backflips and dance, or engaging in a game of hide-and-seek with robotic dogs. There are also robotic coffee and ice cream masters in the rest area; you can try them out at your own expense if interested. It’s worth noting that our visit will depend on the day’s agenda, as various tech enterprises will rotate to carry out different activities.

Next, let’s explore the aesthetic tastes of local youth at COSMO Mall and enjoy a specially included grilled fish lunch at a popular restaurant Grilled Master in Taikoo Li Mall. Expect perfectly crisp skin and tender boneless fish simmered with a medley of spices. Prefer trying hot pot? Just let us know! Either way, we’ll help order milder flavors. 

After lunch, walk off the food at Wide and Narrow Alley. On the cobbled paths surrounded by historic gray brick architecture from the early 20th century, you’ll soak in the local culture while watching artisans crafting dough figurines, browsing panda-themed shops, and seeing locals play mahjong. To experience Chengdu’s relaxed art of living, we’ll then step into the People’s Park. Sit in a comfy bamboo chair, savoring a cup of lidded-bowl tea and gently stirring the leaves like a true local. There is a Marriage Corner in the park, where elderly locals display marriage advertisements for their children. With your guide’s interpretation, you’ll get how important career and housing are in China’s matchmaking.

Around 17:30, a local snack tasting awaits you at Fuqin Night Market, with at least 5 different varieties already included. Popular choices include deep-fried sweet glutinous rice balls, skewered vegetables steeped in cold spicy sauce, and ice jelly that balances the heat. Your guide can recommend some snacks based on your preferences.

Today’s itinerary will end with a wonderful Sichuan Opera performance in a century-old theater. Within 90 minutes, representative skills including face-changing, fire-breathing, and hand shadowing take turns, all accompanied by live musicians. As the artist descends into the audience for a rapid mask change until unveiling his face, you won’t be able to hold back your surprise.

After the show, sit back as your guide and the driver escort you back to your hotel.

Today marks the end of your private Chengdu family tour package. Your guide and the driver will escort you to the airport or train station according to your departure schedule and help with your boarding. Wish you a safe journey!
